Tasmasor

This study comprises the scientific results of salvage excavations conducted by the Gazi University Research Center for Archaeological Environmental Values ​​(GÜ-ARÇED) between July 3 and November 20, 2003, in Tasmasor, located 1.5 km east of Çayırtepe (Müdürge) Village in the Merkez District of Erzurum Province, as part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Crude Oil Pipeline Archaeological Salvage Excavations Project. Surface surveys were conducted in Tasmasor in 2001 and 2002 by the Middle East Technical University Research and Application Center for Historical Environmental Values ​​(METU-TAÇDAM) and the Gazi University Archaeological Heritage Management and Execution Unit as part of the Basic and Detailed Engineering Phases of the BTC Crude Oil Pipeline Project. Following the surveys, the route could not be changed due to technical constraints, and therefore, a salvage excavation became necessary in Tasmasor.
