As the Kütahya Museum Directorate, our activities both inside and outside the museum, which we have carried out since 2013, are published annually in our yearbook. In addition to our work conducted in 2016, articles by other researchers are also included in this yearbook. Eight separate rescue excavations were conducted in 2016. These excavations are discussed in separate articles in the yearbook. Furthermore, the work at Kanlıtaş Mound in Eskişehir, near the border of our province, is included here due to its location in our region. Researchers' analyses of some of the inventoried artifacts in the museum section have also been prepared as articles. As the Museum Directorate, the examination of cultural assets found in rescue excavations, conservation efforts, and regional archaeological excavations have enabled us to gain new knowledge about the history of our region. Kütahya, with its rich history, is uncovering new findings about civilizations that have existed from thousands of years ago to the present day. Rescue excavations conducted in areas previously known only superficially have led us to believe that the region's past deserves much more comprehensive investigation. The environmental impacts of cultural interactions, economic and commercial activities, and people's social lives are thus revealed. The archaeology of Kütahya has become more understandable thanks to the approximately forty-five rescue excavations we have conducted as the Museum Directorate over the last thirty years. Thousands of cultural and natural artifacts uncovered through these excavations have been brought to our museums, protected, and provided for the benefit of visitors. Promising future work is also underway in the ancient city of Aizanoi in Çavdarhisar, Turkey. We are confident that these efforts will contribute significantly to the city's economy and tourism in the future.
