Historical sources are quite reluctant to record assassinations. The story of an assassination is either hinted at between the lines or implicitly. In a time when the ruling dynasty was considered godlike or endowed with divine attributes, announcing the assassination of a ruler or member of a dynasty must have been problematic on many levels: the assassin's frequent presence as a member of the dynasty, a reckoning involving divine powers, the devastating effects of sanctions, and eternal torment.
